Resumen:
We consider a singular timelike spherical hypersurface embedded in a D-dimensional spherically symmetric bulk space-time. The shell is filled with collisionless particles that move in trajectories of constant angular momentum. We analize for the general case the dynamics according to Einstein´s equations. Then we consider shells whose angular momentum distribution is discrete and show that under some circumstances they become at a given proper time unstable against a infinitesimal separation of the sets of particles with different angular momenta. We show explicit examples and construct solutions that represent a shell that splits into two or more shells. Finally we discuss possible interpretations and extensions of these features to space times with different symmetries.
