Resumen:
Abstract: A simple quasi- empiric deformation model to calculate the deformation rate and the agescale corresponding to ice core depths, where grain and deformation size are only ruled by graingrowth and grain deformation processes, is presented. It is found that, knowing the grain andelongation size as a function of the depth and the accumulation rate at the ice-sheet surface, theice core age scale can be determined. It is shown that the model satisfactorily fitted the measuredvalues of the grain deformation rate and the age scale corresponding to GIPS2 ice core depthsabove 600m.
