Resumen:
The determination by conventional spectroscopic methods of the oxidation state and coordination of transition metal cations is very difficult when there are multiple cations, each one with different possible oxidation states. This is the case of the spinel-type double oxides family. High resolution K X-ray fluorescence spectra were measured in Mn(2-x)V(1+x)O4 (x = 0, ⅓) spinels-type double oxides in order to determine the oxidation state and coordination of V and Mn cations. The intensity of RAE KM2,3M4,5 relative to the total intensity and the IAD value were used as reference parameters to Mn characterizations. For V compounds, it was used the intensity of the line K´ relative to the total area. The results were corroborated with X-ray absorption spectra analysis. Chemical environment characterizations are essential to explain magnetic and transport properties in spinel-type oxides family where important properties of technical applications can be found.
