Resumen:
Traditionally, large passive components are used tovirtually eliminate ripple at the PV device terminals, resulting inexpensive and less reliable converters. This work analyzes howto determine the minimum size of a cascaded power converter?sinput filter to extract at least 99% of the available energy, over a wide range of operating conditions. The buck and boostconverter topologies are studied. The minimum passive filterrequired depends on the operating range and the switchingfrequency but slightly varies for different PV modules. Theeffect of ripple in the power extraction process is discussed. Theproposed analysis is validated through computer simulations, thatshow high correlation with the mathematical model?s predictions.
