Resumen:
With the advance of technology, new interfaces to enable information access to everyone are needed.Blind or visually impaired people typically rely on audio feedback to access to their electronic devices information. However, this modality is not always appropriate since visually impaired people also rely on their hearing sense to communicate with the outside world. There are novel approaches that make use of the touch sense and do not interfere with audio. However, those approaches tend to be expensive or invasive for users. In this work, we present a low-cost wearable device that allows visually impaired people to receive smartphone messages in an haptic way, by using Braille code. This device is used as a watch, and it communicates with smartphones via a bluetooth communication.
