This paper introduces a new formula to provide an approximation of the amplitude-period of nonlinear oscillators using a result of the authors in a previous paper, the existence of a CPWL approximation is guaranteed. Then this paper not only provides one possible CPWL vector field but also provides a precise approximation formula in two different scenarios: if the initial condition is known, then the amplitude and the period can be approximated and if the initial condition is unknown but the amplitude/period is known, then the period/amplitude is estimated. An example of application is considered using the well known Duffing-type oscillator showing the precision of the approximations but also showing the potentiality of the method to estimate the initial condition. Finally, some conclusions and future work are presented.
