Resumen:
Along the western margin of the Achala batholith, a series of parallel, penetrative fractures on a local and regional scale, oriented N 110°, dipping 90° to 85º NE to the SO are recognized. These fractures developed tectonic breccias and very fine-grained cataclasites, cemented by ferruginous siliceous dark red color whith bands of milky silica. Three opening stages are recognized: two in a purely extensional regime and a third associated with a dextral displacement. Other kind of rocks such as greisens, nefelinites and gold veins are either located in these structures, both in the batholith and in its metamorphic field rocks, indicating a long period of tectonic activity and processes associated with them. At present, seismicity is recognized along these brittle structures.
