Resumen:
The metamorphic basement on the southern portion of Sierra Chica consist mainly of metatexitic migmatites. During metamorphic regional peak M2-D2, granulite facies conditions have been reached, producing partial melting of metapelic rocks and developing a pervasive metamorphic foliation (S2). Pyroxenic orthogneisses lie interleaved with the migmatites. They can be interpreted as mafic granulites (fluid-absent condition). Prograde dehydration of hornblende and biotite would have produced clinopyroxene, orthopyroxene and potassium feldspar.
