Resumen:
Veinlets composed of scapolite (%Me 67.3 ? 75.7), diopside, amphibole (magnesiohornblende, pargasite and
edenite), clinozoisite (or zoisite) and calcite crosscut amphibolite in Las
Bateas, Colón Department, Córdoba. Scapolite occurs as pale greyish brown
crystals bound by {110}. It contains up to 1.16 wt.% SO3 (0.13 SO4
apfu). No systematic compositional variation between crystal core and rim was
detected. Unit cell dimensions (space group P42/n) are a = 12.1486(13), c = 7.5667(9) Å , V = 1116.8(2) Å3.
Prehnite and actinolite are secondary
phases.
The primary association of the host amphibolite was altered, with
scapolitization of plagioclase (chemically indistinguishable from vein
scapolite), chloritization of biotite and formation of rims of hydrothermal
around metamorphic amphibole.
The mineral association described in this contribution is the result of
metasomatism of amphibolite by S-, Cl- and CO2-rich solutions.
