Resumen:
Shallow groundwater from Los Pereyra, Tucumán, Argentina shows arsenic concentrations exceeding the Argentine and international standards for drinking water. Validation tests of the modified SORAS method were performed. Due to the low amounts of iron in natural well waters, it is needed to add it externally. The main objective of this work was to find a low-cost and viable source of iron provision. Packing wire was found the optimum iron source. Tests carried out in synthetic waters similar to the natural ones showed good removal efficiency, ranging 60-90%.
