Resumen:
In this research, cellulose nanocrystals were successfully obtained frommicrocrystalline cellulose and dispersed in a polyurethane matrix. Cellulosenanocrystals were characterized by dynamic light scattering. Polyurethane matrix wasprepared from hydroxylated soybean oil, tertiary amine catalyst and polymericdiphenyl diisocyanate. Nanocellulose reinforced polyurethane composites weresuccessfully prepared with different concentration and good dispersion of cellulosenanocrystals. Thermal properties and tensile strength of the result ing films wereevaluated and dynamic mechanical analysis was carried out. The glass transitiontemperature of the nanocomposites increased slightly by increasing concentration ofnanocellulose. The highest tensile strength was found for the nanocomposite with 1wt% of cellulose nanocrystals.
