Resumen:
Agua de la Cueva ¨C Sector Sur rockshelter (32¡ã 37¡ä S, 69¡ã 09¡ä W, 2,900 m a.s.l.) has yielded the major group of cultural remains from early human occupations (between 10,950 ¡À 190 ¨CBeta 61409- and  7,450 ¡À 140 ¨CBeta 90740- RCYBP) in the central west Argentina (Garc¨ªa 1995; Garc¨ªa et al. 1999). A great part of these items are lithic artifacts, of which 16,959 debris and 828 instruments have been recovered. The analyses of a sample constituted by 3,674 lithic debris and the total group of instruments was carried out, allowing the characterization of some tendencies related to the organization of lithic technology, and the evaluation of some proposals linked to raw material, retouch, and fractures.
