Introduction: The cardiovascular reflexes are controlled by tracts from baroreceptors and carotideo and oarta presoreceptors from XIth cranial par. This nerve is frecuently descrived as motor and is phylogenetical, embryological and morphologically very related to the X par, this fact might suggest a possible visceral function. Aims: a) To study the anatomy and the possible anastomótical relations of the cranial XI-par in human and different specis of mammals. B) To study sensitive aspects of the XI par and the physiology of it anastomótical relations using electrophysiological techniques in anesthetized animals C) To complement these observations monitoring the cardiac frequency. Statistical analysis: The information was analyzed statistically using a sofwar STISTIC 5.0 for the ANOVA and post.test of Neuman Keuls. Results: We find anastomosis spinal-vagal and anastomosis between root of the couple XI with tracts of the dorsal root of the spinal marrow. We find nervous activity in records of antidrómic stimulation of the XI par and a decrease of cardiac frequency before its electroestimulación. Discussion: The spinal nerve, would contain tracts of sensibility proprioceptive and visceral, like that also afferents branchial and besides, its stimulation would take part in the induction of a bradycardic reflex. The anastomosis of XI par with the dorsal roots of the cervical marrow (sensitive), may suggest that physiologically the spinal nerve across its two roots transports sensitive and motor information and therefore could be nerve of mixed nature.
