Resumen:
The goal of this study is to show by means of a numerical model, that the atmospheric mesoscale activity, which is a feature for the area, can be an important source for oceanic mesoscale variability. Due to the described characteristics, a difficulty for these kind of studies is the lack of  meteorological data that do not misrepresent the intensity of the involved phenomena. To force a reasonably realistic numerical model of the ocean circulation, data must also have an adequate resolution. A “Sudestada” situation that took place on November 10-12, 1989 was chosen for been one of the most intense of the last decades and haven been reproduced with a high resolution atmospheric numerical model by Seluchi and Saulo (1996), who facilitated the data for this study.
