Resumen:
Abstract This control-case study evaluates olfactory function and recognition memory after recent positive Alzheimer’s disease diganosis. Psychophysical non-invasive procedures (i.e.: subjective-objective correlations) have been used in all three experiments. Ratings of olfactory detection thresholds, UPSIT identification, and odor-odor recognition have been recorded from all subjects in replicated determinations and sessions of each experiment. We have found functional evidence suggesting the implication of intrinsic olfactory memory subpathways in the preservation of recognition memory performance at the onset of the neurodegenerative process in Alzheimer’s disease
