Women in Physics. Experience and activities

In this talk I will describe some of the activities that I have been involved with that are related to the advancement of women in Science, particularly in Physics. I will provide some data on the situation of women physicists in Argentina that I helped collect in the past which prompted me to look at the situation of women in Science under a different perspective. I will then describe the activities that I have participated of as member and chair of the Working Group on Women in Physics of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics. In particular, I will describe some of the results of the Global Survey of Physicists that was carried on in 2009-2010. I will then give a brief account of our more recent projects as Working Group, including the elaboration of a questionnaire for a new survey that will include scientists from Mathematics and Chemistry and the writing up of a charter of principles with a set of good practices that we would like Physical Societies and Institutions to adopt. Finally, I will describe some of the most recent activities that we have done at the regional level with colleagues from other Latin American countries.
