Resumen:
The Portuguese and Argentinean coasts are located in a biogeographical transition area, where fish characteristic of warm temperate regions can be found in sympatry with others typical from cool temperate and high latitudes. For both areas there are estimates of expected climate changes for the end of the present century, especially in what regards sea surface temperature. These estimates were used to evaluate the changes in fish distribution ranges in both Atlantic areas and to assess possible changes in fish assemblage’s composition, structure and dynamics. The implications for coastal fisheries were also addressed.
