The Medical School of the San Francisco Xavier of Chuquisaca University has always pretended to adopt to the educational changes of regional and global contexts. Objective. The objective was to describe the educational environment and associate it to some socio-economic variables. Methodology. A cross-sectional study was developed, applying the ?Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure? DREEM inventory to medical students in 2008. From the total (N=2401), waqs obtained a sample (N=387) randomly selective by year: first/71, second/85, third/41, fourth/57, fifth/92 and sixth (internship)/41. Simultaneously, information of some socio-economic and demographic variables, and choice of career were collected. Results. The DREEM overall score was 131/200 (SD ± 21.2, IC 95%, 129-1333) the students perceive the educational environment ?more positive than negative?. Fig. 1. The punctuations by domains were: Student?s perceptions of learning 29.3/48 (SD±6.4 IC95% 29-30) ?a more positive perception?; Student?s perceptions of course organizers 25.5/44 (SD±6.8 IC95% 24.8-26.1) ?moving in the right direction?; Academic self perceptions 24.3/32 (SD±3.9 IC95% 23.9-24.7) ?more in the positive side?; Perceptions of the environment 33.7/48 (SD ± 6.9 IC95% 33.0-34.4) ?a good feeling overall?; and Social self-perceptions 18.5/28 (SD ± 3.9 IC95% 18.1-18.8) ?not to bad?.
