Resumen:
Tissue distribution of heavy metals (total mercury, cadmium, zinc and copper) wcre studied In spccimens oí Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops gt!p/t.yreus), Franciscana Dolphin (Pontoporia blaiuvilk1) and Plgmy Sperm Whale (Kogia breviceps) strandcd in SW Atlantic beaches in Argentina. Heary metal determinations were carried out by atomic absorption spcctrophotometry.Ll\ler is the most important Hg, Zn, and Cu accumulator organ in the studied specimens, while kidney is so íor Cd. The importancc oí the trophic habits and ecological charactcristics of each species related to corresponding heary metal concentrat.ions was emphasized, as wcll as the animal age vs. pollutant contents relatlonship.Based on these results the suitability or using these small cetaceans specles as 'heary metals bioindicators' in the considered environment was discussed.
