Resumen:
The evidence from South America and specially from the Southern Cone has been crucial to approach the study of the origins and characteristics of the First Americans. This region was the last continental land to be colonized by Homo sapiens and in some way, represents the “end of the trip”, the final step of the expansion process which started two millions ago in the Sub-Saharan Africa. After this, only several island remains unpopulated. Recent data from sites in Argentina and Chile provided new light about the time and characteristics of this expansion and let a more detailed discussion about the timing and speed of this process.
