Breast cancer (BC) is the main cause of cancer death in Argentinian women (ASR(W) 19.9:100,000). According to a situation analysis performed by the National Ministry of Health, by 2010 no comprehensive BC control program was active in the country. BC screening was mostly opportunistic and breast cancer care was highly fragmented. Resource underutilization was frequent; practice guidelines, quality control, monitoring, and evaluation were nonexistent. In 2011, the Ministry of Health established the National Breast Cancer Control Program in the sphere of the National Cancer Institute. One of the program´s goals is practices´ quality improvement.
