In the present work, we have focused on the study of specific T cell populations involved in autoimmune prostatitis. We immunized NOD mice with prostate extract or saline solution in CFA on days 0 and 15. Mice were sacrificed at day 10 or 24. Lymph nodes and spleen Mononuclear cell (MC) were cultured during 48 hs in presence of the purified autoantigen PSBP or overlapping peptides that represent PSBP sequence. Lymph nodes and spleen MC cells stimulated with PSBP and certain peptides induced high levels of IFNã and IL17, while the other peptides were not recognized. We observed that PSBP stimulated MC cells from day 10, produced higher levels of IL17 and showed higher frequency of CD4+IL17+ than MC obtained at day 24. When we analyzed IFNã producing cells we observed the MC cells obtained at 24 produced higher levels of IFNã and showed higher frequency of CD4+IFNã+ (P <0.01). In contrast, the presence of CD4+IL10+ cells and CD4+Foxp3+ cells increased their frequency during the development of the disease, showing higher values at day 24. In conclusion, we observed  major frequency of IL17 producing cells at early stages and increments of CD4+IFNg+, CD4+IL10+ and CD4+Foxp3+ at late stages of disease.
