Resumen:
Vision is a complex phenomenon that requires eyes and brain. Eyes are able to detect images of visible light though the cones and rods of the retina and then transmit the visual information in a cell to cell manner. Every year, in March, takes place a worldwide celebration:The Brain Awareness Week, a global campaign that is committed to educating the public about the brain and the promise of research in the area. In the hallmark of this international event, two vision research groups of Chemical Science Faculty-UNC, carried out extension activities in Córdoba schools. The project for children between 9-15 years old, was afforded with a DANA grant. The groups organized classroom workshops: 4 short lectures and 4 games. The speeches were dynamic and scholars participated actively Optic illusions were a powerful tool to explain the interaction between eyes and brain, and how the brain sometimes misunderstands the information. We played with prisms and coloured wheels. Small groups participated in big puzzles competition about anatomic distribution of the organs involved in vision.Through didactic cubes we invite them to discover differences between human and other species eyes. Finally, we designed glasses to encourage them to ?put in the shoes? of people that suffer ocular pathologies. The students? curiosity transformed the classroom in a different scenario, were playing and learning about vision was possible.
