The TraThe Tractatusde philosophica interpretatione sacrae Scripturae by Heymericus de Campo have come down to us completely and inanonymous form only in the Cod. Cus. 24. This is series of nine lecturestaught at the University of Leuven in 1435 according to the Statute of theFaculty of Theology of Cologne.In the first lesson he develops athreefold classification of mystical, symbolic and philosofical theology. Howeverthis scheme was modified in lesson 9, where symbolical theology haesn?t anintermediary place but the lowest level of all three categories.The goal of my paper is (1) to provide adescription of the doctrinal structure of the treatise in order to (2) establisha gnoseological concept that makes it possible to explain the epistemological inconsistencybetween the two passages.
