Resumen:
Preliminary findings indicate that the southern part of the Deseado Massif, Santa Cruz province, Argentinean Patagonia, was utilized by human populations at least by 10,850 14C years BP (12850 cal yr BP). Evidences suggest that during the Pleistocene-Holocene transition La Gruta, lagoon 2, cave 1 was used repeatedly for short periods of time by a few to several people. Around 8830 cal yr BP evidences of human utilization of cave and the nearby area increase. Pollen analysis from different sequences allows reconstructing the paleoenvironment along the previous and contemporaneous occupation times.
