Resumen:
The mapping of human populations on the
landscape is a difficult task at best. To achieve this goal all kinds of
evidences should be used, including importantly rock art. There are
different frameworks under which this can be done. We choose to work
with the inherited landscape perspective. This perspective is focused
on changes introduced in the environment by human populations, and how
these changes are part of the heritage received by later generations.
In some aspects this perspective does not differ much from those
focused on the temporality of the landscape. We emphasize aspects
related with the distribution of rock art motifs, and use that
information -together with other markers- to discuss the identification
of prehistoric human populations in southern Patagonia.
