Abstract   In tourism the quality is impossible to dissociate from the concept of sustainability, which includes the environmental aspects as well as the economic, social and cultural aspects of the destinations. In consequence, to evaluate the impact of public policy in the matter is necessary to define a System of Touristic Sustainability Indicators (STSI). A good STSI can be applied throughout a country and for different scales, and evenly covers the four universally accepted subsystems and the different types of possible indicators. Through an Agreement between the CONICET and the Secretariat of Tourism of the Nation, developed a methodological proposal for the design of a Basic System of Touristic Sustainability Indicators for Argentina. In this paper we presesent this territorially inclusive system, outlining the advantages of a systemic conception, as a scientific tool for strategic planning of the regional development. In special we developed here the model of descriptive card suggested and the steps for the univariated classification of space with the corresponding mapping, relying on the use of weighted statistical parameters. Is exemplified with the indicator hotelbeds per thousand inhabitants, which was obtained to departments and local governments of the province of Chubut.   Keywords: Systems of Touristic Sustainability Indicators (STSI), univariated classification, hotelbeds, Chubut province.
