The right to information and communication hastraditionally been considered one of the pillars of citizenship as well as of thedemocratic system. However, in the specific case of external citizenship itsrole is not so evident. The goal pursued in the context of this article istwofold: first, to discuss its implications for the representation andparticipation of external citizens and, second, to provide useful insights toguarantee its full implementation.
