Resumen:
Abstract Hsp70 and Hsp90 expression in response to high and low temperatures was studied in orange and pepper plants. While at high temperatures chaperones expression in both plants was induced, at cold temperatures the response was variable. In addition, Hsp70 and Hsp90 expression was analyzed in citrus canker produced by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri and in the incompatible interaction between this bacterium and the non-host plant pepper. In infiltrated citrus plants no Hsp70 or Hsp90 induction was observed whereas pepper plants showed an increase of Hsp70 and Hsp90 levels at 24 hours post infiltration, suggesting that changes in Hsp70 and Hsp90 expression are not involved in the disease process while they are augmented in the non-host resistance.
