Resumen:
The Antlia galaxy cluster is the third nearest galaxy cluster after Virgo and Fornax. Its richness is intermediate between these two well investigated clusters while its galaxy density is even higher. However, it had been hardly investigated in the optical until we started with this project. The cluster population is dominated by early-type galaxies, with dwarf ellipticals being the most abundant galaxy type. Antlia exhibits a complex structure consisting of several subgroups, the most important ones being dominated by the giant ellipticals NGC3258 and NGC3268. We present the results of several related investigations concerning the following topics: the globular cluster systems around NGC3258 and NGC3268, the existence of intraclusters, the link between globular clusters and possible galaxy interactions, the dwarf galaxy population, and the colour-magnitude relation displayed by the early-type galaxies.
