Resumen:
NGC 1316 (Fornax A) is a prominent merger remnant in the outskirts of the Fornax cluster, probably shaped by a violent starburst about 2-3 Gyr ago (e.g. Kuntschner 2000, Goudfrooij et al. 2001). Starbursts triggered by mergers provide the conditions for the formation of massive clusters. Intermediate-age clusters, probably related to the star burst, have already been identifed in NGC 1316. We present wide-feld photometry for clusters in NGC 1316 which for the first time embraces the entire cluster system, demonstrating the broad age distribution. The cluster system is relatively poor, about 400 cluster candidates down to R=24 mag. Moreover, we present kinematical data for 160 globular clusters which show properties very different from those one would expect for a spherical globular cluster system in dynamical equilibrium. // Publicado online http://www.eso.org/sci/meetings/2011/fornax_virgo2011.html, id.44.
