Resumen:
An interruption or decrease in the blood supply to the brain can reduces the flow ofoxygen and nutrients necessary to maintain normal cellular functioning. Thedamage that occurs in the tissue depends on the location, size and duration. Whena blood clot occludes a brain vessel by reducing blood flow to a specific region ofthe brain, focal cerebral damage occurs, increasing the risk of cell death in that particulararea. The death of neuronal cells in a certain region changes the receptivefields of neurons surrounding the damaged tissue and inhibitory neurons can producechanges in plasticity that affects the abilities of the neuronal population in agiven region. In this work we developed a simple computational model that takesinto account a damage area in a neuronal population and investigated the effectson information transmission.
