DMS that retain their magnetism at and above RT are critically important in the development of spintronics as spin injectors for heterostructures that can operate without cryogenic cooling. Diluted magnetic semiconducting oxides (O-DMS) are among the most promising materials of this kind and have posed interesting new problems in magnetism. We present results on DM-SnO2 (a wide band gap transparent semiconductor) prepared in the form of powders and films by mechanosynthesis and laser ablation deposition. The magnetic structure of Fe-doped powders is analyzed, and the reliability on reported  magnetism in pure SnO2 films is discussed.
