Resumen:
(póster) We study the effects of lattice deformations on spin ice, with Ising spins coupled by nearest neighbor exchange and long range dipolar interactions in the presence of a magnetic field. We describe the lattice energy according to the Einstein model and integrate out the phonon degrees of freedom. The resulting effective Hamiltonian is studied by MonteCarlo simulations, under different directions of the magnetic field. We find that, as the effect of the deformation is increased, a rich plateau structure appears in the magnetization curves for a restricted 2D version (Kagome ice). In the 3D case this simple model reproduces several experimentally observed features, which cannot be accounted for within a pure spin model.
