Different parameterizations of the weak N --> Delta vertex and conventional versus gauge pi N Delta couplings

We perform a phenomenological analysis on the use of πNΔ(1232) alternative couplings in πN scattering, within a single and well controlled dynamical model. We compare numerically results for the elastic cross section obtained by using the conventional couplings, already adopted in several reaction calculations, with those obtained with the so called ?spin- 3/2 gauge invariant? vertexes suggested recently. Also, here we try to establish a connection between two commonly used parametrizations of the weak N → Δ vertex and form factors and we study their effects on the determination of the axial coupling CA 5 (0), the common normalization of the axial form factors, which is predicted to hold 1.2 by using the PCAC hypothesis.
