Dynamic hyperfine interactions in 111In-doped In2O3 revisited: PAC experiments and ab initio calculations

In this work, we report a Time-Diffrerential g-g Perturbe-Angular-Correlations (PAC) experiment performed in 111In-diffused In2O3 semiconductor in order to determine the dynamic hyperfine interactions observed at 111Cd sites and attributed to the electron capture decay after effects of the 111In((EC)→111Cd) nuclei. The PAC measurements were performed as a function of the temperature in the range 10-900 K and in air atmosphere. The spectra present a strong damping at intermediate temperatures (150-500 K), while this damping decreases partially in the range 10-150 K and totally at high temperatures (500-900 K). The damping observed in the spectra signal is attributed to the electronic relaxation process after of 111In EC-decay and it is adjusted with the perturbation factor proposed by Bäverstam and coauthors . The experimental data are compared with ab initio calculations reported by Errico et al. . We propose a model in order to explain the origin of the observed dynamic interactions. This model is based in the filled or empty of the impurity states induced by the presence of the Cd probes at the host system and it is supported by FP-APW calculations.
