Resumen:
The Puncoviscana Formation (s.l.) represents the lithostratigraphical basement in the southern sector of the South American Central Andean Basin, displaying several interbedded carbonate bodies, in the northern provinces of Jujuy and Salta, whose chronostratigraphy is still unclear (Omarini and Baldis 1984; Toselli et al., 2005; Aceñolaza et al., 2007). Precise chronological control for other limestones in NW Argentina is limited, in such way that additional geochemical and chronological data are highly valuable.s.l.) represents the lithostratigraphical basement in the southern sector of the South American Central Andean Basin, displaying several interbedded carbonate bodies, in the northern provinces of Jujuy and Salta, whose chronostratigraphy is still unclear (Omarini and Baldis 1984; Toselli et al., 2005; Aceñolaza et al., 2007).
