Resumen:
Several localities of the Central Andean Basin of Argentina were studied focused on Ordovician conodont studies. The recorded conodont association allowed us to identify the genus Baltoniodus, of great biostratigraphic importance and to define a new species of this genus for some of these areas. The finding and description of the new species Baltoniodus cooperi sp. nov. enabled us to suggest a stratigraphical relation between this species and Baltoniodus triangularis Lindström and to recognize strong affinities with the Australian faunistic province.
