Resumen:
TiO2 nanotubes/nanoflakes were synthesized by alkalinehydrothermal treatment of TiO2 nanoparticles withcontrolled proportion of anatase and rutile. Tailoring ofTiO2 phases was achieved by adjusting pH and type ofacid used in the hydrolysis of titanium isopropoxide (firststep in the sol-gel synthesis). Anatase proportion in theprecursor nanoparticles was in the 3-100% range. Tubelike nanostructures was obtained with Anatase percentageof 18 or higher. After annealing at 400°C for 2 h, afraction of nanotubes was conserved in all the samples but, depending on the Anatase/Rutile ratio in the startingmaterial, spherical and rod shape structures were alsoobserved. The photocatalytic activity of 1D nanostructureswas evaluated for E. coli bacteria in water.
