Resumen:
The effects of both organic matter and available phosphorous on arsenic sorption by typical Argiudol soils was studied. The adsorption of arsenic was investigated by batch and column leaching experiments. The batch experiments showed a maximum adsorption capacity of about 20 mmol kg-1 of dry soil. The column experiments revealed As retention by a part of the soil, varying according to the level of organic matter, available phosphorus and As concentration. This behavior could be important from the contamination point of view
