Flavormeter: new Electronic-Tongue-Nose device.Application to the pharmaceutical industry.Delia L. This new equipment is small, portable and combines in real time the acquisition signals coming from liquid phase electrodes and gas sensors. Patented in USA, Europe and Argentina, will be shown in action in this next INNOVAR 2006 (October 25-28, Buenos Aires). This sensor array has a wide application in food and pharmaceutical industry. As examples in pharmaceutical applications can be mentioned analysis of masking effects, control quality of products, follow-up of fermentation processes, etc. In the field of controlled release studies we are developing an automated flow-injection technique coupled with electronic tongue-nose analysis for drug screening of synchronous release of two or more drugs in sustained release formulations. The innovating methodology consists in the hyphenation of the “Flavormeter” with spectroscopic detection by a diode array via FIA technique.    Limitations, advantages and prospects of this device are discussed.
