Resumen:
We present in this chapter a new strategy to uncage biologically active molecules based in the photochemistry of coordination complexes. Complexes containing the Ruthenium-bipyridine core are efficient photoactive cages for amines, including several neurotransmiters and analogs as GABA, Glutamate, Serotonin, Nicotine and 4-aminopyridine. The uncaging process occurs with visible light, up to 532 nm, and also with IR light (800 nm) in two-photon regime.
