Resumen:
This chapter deals with the reactivity of nitroxyl in its different spin states (singlet/protonated, triplet/deprotonated) towards itself and other small molecules. Fast dimerization of HNO/NO? produces N2O as an end product. Nitroxyl is oxidized by reaction with O2 producing NO or peroxynitrite, depending on its spin state. The relationship of NO with HNO regarding interactions between these species and their possible interconversion pathways will be also discussed. Finally, the reaction between HNO and H2S will be mentioned.
