Resumen:
Two new MnIII complexes have been prepared and characterized. ESI-MS, UV-Vis and 1HNMR spectroscopic studies showed thar two complexes exist in solution as monoanions, with ligan bound to the Mn ion through the two phenolato-O and two imino-N atoms disposed in the equatorial plane. The E172 of the MnIII/MnII couple allows these complexes to efficiently catalyze the dismutation of superoxide with catalytic rate constants in the order of the most efficient complexes. Both complexes have catalase activity. Their dual SOD/CAT activity, together withthe high water solubility, make these compounds partiulary attractive as catalytic antioxidants.
