Resumen:
The objective of this article is to summarize and to discuss several of the changes in corn crop productivity after the application of a liquid formulation containing Azospirillum brasilense under the environmental and the production conditions of the Pampas region. Conclusions: Under regular production conditions of the pampas region (Argentina), the seed treatment with a liquid formulation containing Azospirillum brasilense Az39 strain enhances the early growth and productivitiy of corn crops. Averaged over 221 sites and 9 growing seasons, and independently of other crop production pratices, a grain yield response of 577 kg ha-1 (7.1%) was described. The response decreased when increasing the rainfalls during the vegetative growth of the crops suggesting the positive contribution of this biological treatment on the reduction of moderate growth stress conditions and the enhancement of crop nutrient and other resources uptake and use efficiency.
