Resumen:
Vertebrate Paleontology from the Quaternary of the argentinian Mesopotamia, especially the study on Pleistocene mammals from Entre Ríos province, has recently experienced an important advance. Records of taxa already known from other regions, as well as the recognition of new taxa, have been substantially improved. Most of them are mammals and, in a less number, birds and reptiles are reported. The three more fossiliferous Quaternary geologic formations are: Arroyo Feliciano, El Palmar, and Tezanos Pinto. The faunistic assemblages recognized are referred to a Late Pleistocene- Early Holocene age (Lujanian). Those recorded at the Arroyo Feliciano and El Palmar formations are indicative of warm and humid environmental conditions close to the last Interglacial (base of the Lujanian Age), being defined by a stock of mostly typical Pampean taxa, with an important addition of Brazilian faunistic elements. The age of the fauna coming from the Tezanos Pinto formation (Late Pleistocene-Early Holocene) is close to the Last Glacial Maximum (Late Lujanian), being its composition very similar to that typical of the end of the Lujanian in the Pampean region, i.e. a fauna associated with more cold and arid climatic conditions. More detailed geologic and paleontologic studies will increase our knowledge about the paleobiogeographic relations during the Quaternary of the Mesopotamia with other regions in Argentina and the remaining South America.
