Resumen:
In regions where the environment is not conducive to the botanical remains preservation, theanalysis of plant microremains allows obtaining empirical evidence of this component of thearchaeological record. The of biosiliceous and starchy microremains analysis result from pottery ofthe Guaraní tradition of the Upper Paraná River and the Delta of the Paraná River Basin werepresented. To do this, waste samples were taken from the pottery of the upper Paraná River and thedelta. Microremains were found in all the samples, with siliceous origin (such graminoid elements, podostemoid, chuscoid, puzzle and conduction elements related to Fabaceae) and among starchgrains (that allow Zea mays and Phaselous sp. were identificated). The differential use of thepottery according to their function was observed. The organic residues were present in thecontainers used for storage, fermentation and beverages service, predominantly, while the siliceouselements had a more homogeneous distribution throughout the sample, marking, with freshwatersponge spicules and podostemoid elements, a contextual reference of the aquatic environment. Thisoriginal information from this study provide data about the presence of plants in pottery that allowto be a dialogue contrasted with the information of the models originating from the ethnographicand ethnohistorical analogies.
