Resumen:
Paleobotany records from the Northern Pampa are very scarce and poorly known. Only a palynological study in Paraná Formation (Upper Miocene) was previously done with a systematic description of dinoflagelates, pteridophytes, gimnosperms and angiosperms (including Proteaceae family). All these records were found in sediments from the Josefina well (Santa Fe Province). The present work introduces the first anatomical and systematic study of a fossil wood found in the Northern Pampa. This finding is particularly significant for future paleobiogeography interpretations about this region and for the occurrence of Proteaceae fossil in the Paraná Basin over the Pleistocene.
