WELCOMEDear participantsPlease be welcome to the 13th edition of the International Conference on Plasma Based Ion Implantation and Deposition, PBII&D 2015. This conference takes place every two years rotating between Europe, Asia and America and it is pleasure for us, in behalf of the whole Organizing Committee to receive you in the city of Buenos Aires.The Plasma Based Ion Implantation and Deposition conference join specialists and scientists who work in plasma surface processing, focused on the presentation of the latest scientific developments and the detection of future trends concerning plasma-based ion assisted surface treatments and thin films deposition.Thanks to their limited cost of operation and their applicability to large and complex surfaces, the versatile plasma-based processes allow the improvement of a wide variety of materials (metallic alloys, ceramics, semiconductors, DLC and polymers, biomaterials?) for a very large range of applications (mechanical and wear resistance; electronics, optics, photovoltaics, chemical, biological functionalization and nanostructuration; among others). These facts confer the PBII&D conference an interdisciplinary character, involving scientific areas such as plasma physics, materials science and all others related to the development of processing equipment, plasma diagnostic and surface analysis or testing.In this Edition we received 75 contributions and other 10 were invited. Following the Plenary Lecture and the Keynote Lecture, 8 especially invited talks will take place, which will be held during four days at the beginning of each oral session of regular contributions. There will be also two poster sessions. A special thanks to our sponsors, local and international, which allow not only to develop this conference but also to invite the speakers and to give financial assistance to students.We hope that you enjoy your stay in Argentina, and we hope as well, that the PBII&D 2015 Conference will continue the tradition to provide a fruitful gathering, allowing the contact between international key researchers, industry partners and students, and stimulating new collaborations.
