Resumen:
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOs) is the most endocrine disorder affecting 5-10 % ofreproductive age woman. PCOs is a multifaceted syndrome links a long term with highrisk of cardiovascular disease. It is well known that pro-inflammatory markers play animportant role as an early expression in the development and progression ofatherosclerosis disease. Our Goal in the present study was to evaluate the presence of inflammatory markers: CReactive Protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and IL-1beta (IL-1b) in PCOs patientserum.DESIGN: It is observational, case control, transversal and prospective study. Westudied 33 PCOs patients (18-29 years old).RESULTS:Hs-CRP concentrations (turbidimetric test) in PCOs patients were:* < 1mg/l 66.6%* 1–3 mg/l 21.2%* > 3mg/l 12.1%Low, medium and high cardiovascular risk respectively. We did not find significant differences between PCOs patients versus non-PCOs groupon cytokines (ELISA assay) in serum levels.CONCLUSIONS: Our preliminary data suggest that some patients PCOs could presenta low grade chronic inflammation (since population tercile have presented values CPRhigher than 1mg/l) independent overweight, obesity and/or IR presence. Nevertheless,pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-6 and IL-1b) were not increased at least by thismethodology.
